Artifact Type: An article by Liz Gilpatrick entitled "Orff Schulwerk: Process, Not Method" from the Summer 2009 Edition of the The Orff Echo magazine.
Rationale For Inclusion: Competency D9 states that a teacher of vocal music shall apply the standards of effective practice in teaching students through a variety of early and ongoing clinical experiences with kindergarten or primary, intermediate, middle level, and high school students within a range of educational programming models. Music education is an ongoing process. A full musical education takes years to earn. One of the more effective methods for teaching music to children is the method based on the ideas of Carl Orff. I think this is an excellent way to teach music and I used this method during my elementary student teaching placement. This article talks about the process of the Orff method.
